ARNOLD L. SMITH
Professor Arnold L. Smith, M.D. is Full Member & Director of
Bacterial Pathogenesis of the Seattle Biomedical Research
Institute and one of the world leaders in bacterial pathogenesis.
Dr. Smith is serving now and has served as PI/PD on numerous
grants from NIAID, NIGMS, NICHD, NHLBI, & Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation. Dr. Smith began working on H. influenzae in
1969 when he joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Among
his numerous outstanding achievements: he was part of the team
along with Drs. D.H. Smith, P. Anderson, and R. Insel, which
developed Hib-conjugate vaccine, which is now recommended for
administration to every infant born in the USA. He also developed
the infant rat model of invasive H. influenzae disease,
which led to "proof of principle" studies confirming the utility
of anti-type b capsular antibodies. He has published over 100
peer-reviewed manuscripts addressing the pathogenesis of disease
in cell culture and subhuman primates, and on the mechanisms of
antibiotic resistance. Dr. Smith is long stand collaborator and
advisor on Haemophilus, one of the model organisms under
study at BIATECH.
DAVID J. ARPASI
David J. Arpasi is the President of In-Red Services Corporation,
a firm which provides tax consultation and tax preparation
services along with other traditional finance and accounting
services. Mr. Arpasi was awarded an M.B.A. in Finance and
Business Management from Indiana University and also holds a B.S.
in Business from Indiana University. He was elected to membership
in Beta Gamma Sigma. Prior to developing his own corporation, Mr.
Arpasi was a senior financial manager for three major
corporations as well as a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He has been involved with BIATECH since its inception providing
tax, finance, and accounting expertise.
EUGENE KOLKER
Until 2002 Dr. Kolker was Computation Biology Lead at ISB, and
recently Eugene became the Affiliate Scientist at the Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory, Richmond, WA. In 2002, Dr. Kolker
started BIATECH and serves as its President and Director. Dr.
Kolker has extensive computational and molecular biology
experience on genomics and proteomics, statistical and
algorithmic development, data analysis and integration and has
been a member of the Board of Directors for the International
Society for Computational Biology. In 2001 he was invited to and
accepted the position of Editor-in-Chief of a new journal "OMICS
A Journal of Integrative Biology". Dr. Kolker serves as a Head of
the Executive Council.

HENRY G. LIEBMAN
President, founder, and co-owner of American Life, Mr. Henry G.
Liebman has over twenty years experience in immigration, real
estate, and recently biotechnology-related law as Managing
Partner of Coe Nordwall Liebman LLC and currently at
Liebman-Mimbu PLLC. Mr. Liebman is the author of several books on
immigration law and was the founder of Northwest International
Bank, serving as the bank's first Chairman of the Board and now
as a director and Loan Committee member. His experience in
purchasing, managing the development of commercial-industrial
properties and biotechnology startups, coupled with his banking
and investment experience, has given Mr. Liebman his unique
business background. This unusual depth of skill in business,
finance, and law, especially in biotechnology-related issues, is
invaluable to BIATECH. Mr. Liebman currently serves as BIATECH's
Secretary.
MONICA GIANNI
Ms. Monica Gianni, CPA, JD, LLM works at BTI International Law
Office LLC and has over twenty years experience as a lawyer and
CPA, and currently specializes in tax and legal issues related to
nonprofit and exempt organizations and international businesses.
She and is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of
Washington Law School and the author of numerous articles on
taxation published in national tax journals. Since BIATECH's
inception, she has played an instrumental role in BIATECH's
development and especially in establishing its legal structure
and consulting on legal and tax issues.
